PONG

Interactive installation.
Harpa Music Hall.
August 2014.

From August 23rd-31st 2014, the people of Reykjavík were invited to play the classic arcade game ‘Pong’ on the façade of Harpa concert hall.

Anyone with a smartphone could log on to a special wireless network, join a queue and then take control of either paddle by tilting the device. The game itself was then rendered in real time on Harpa’s facade using the 714 LED lights installed in the steel frame. The massive facade was designed by Ólafur Elíasson. This was the first time that Elíasson granted another artist access to the facade’s advanced lighting system.
